Savannah, GA

This past week we spent a few days down in Savannah with Jim. He had his annual music conference and the kids and I roamed the town. Thursday we dropped him off and headed to the Mighty 8th Air Force museum. This museum is dedicated to the Mighty 8th and their work during WWII. The kids really enjoyed looking at all of the planes. That night we took the kids to see the "The Greatest Show on Earth." It was a suprise to the kids and let me tell you they had a blast! The clowns were funny, the tigers intimidating, and the music was wonderful!

Once while we were watching the girl twist herself up in rope at the top of the building, Samuel asked "Is that a monkey?" Too funny. And my fashion guru who is ever mindful of modesty let me know several times when the girls had on outfits that showed too much skin. Let's just hope we can keep this up when she's a teenager. And those tigers!!!! Oh my goodness. One got a little disobiedent and was pawing at the girl. I got a little worried.

Friday we walked the streets of Savannah. The kids had their maps and we just walked around exploring. That afternoon one of Grace's little friends was released from the hospital down there so we all went out to eat that night. We looked like the circus! We had three adults and 6 kids (5 which were 2-8).

Saturday was a slow day. We did have lunch at the famed "Pirate's House." It was okay, but I don't see all the hype. Oh, well. Sunday was baby dedication and since it was Sam's first year with us we dedicated him. The kids all looked cute dressed in their outfits.

Oh one other cute thing. My brother works down at the port in Savannah building cranes, and so now all the cranes we see the kids say they are Uncle Brian's. Well, now Uncle Brian has moved to owning ships. We were watching one of the large shipping vessels come down the Savannah River headed to the ocean when Grace piped up "There's one of Uncle Brian's boats." So Uncle Brian, where's the money? =)

Whoa this is BIG!

My sweeties all snuggled in for the night.

Mundane Happenings...

Life here is pretty mundane. It's get up, eat breakfast, have school and then play. We have gotten into a pretty good routine. Today we were slightly interrupted but that was okay. My mom called to tell me that my brother had set up an appointment for her to get a tire replaced. I was like "Great! I'll be there soon." So the kids and I went to her house so we could follow her to town (I was a little worried about the tire.) So we drop off the truck and we start to Wal-Mart. Then she tells me my brother had even talked with the guy about taking her to Wal-Mart so she wouldn't have to wait. How impressive!!! I was really blown away. My brother is the coolest.

Oh, so I have bought a book on raising cattle. My dad has kept cows for several years now and I enjoy being around them. However, I don't know much about them. So I bought a book endorsed by the FFA. Reading is interesting and I really can't wait to get started. My plans are to start a small herd that I can make a little profit with. Yee-Haw!

Oh, by the way, I added two songs to my playlist that have really been special to me over the past couple of months. Hope you enjoy.

Happy Trails!

Happy Birthday Baby Girl!!

Well, my baby girl turned 6 today! Wow, 6!! She was so excited and had a great birthday.

Not much else has happened. We got back into the swing of school today. Of course we had a long social studies lesson as we watched the inauguration. We are really trying to finish up this year's curriculum and just hang out.

Oh, while I was gone Jim turned 40!! My dear friend Sunshine threw him a "party" (my kids, her kids, her husband and Jim) Anyway, they were somehow able to stuff 40 candles in 12 cupcakes. The picture she sent was really funny. I will try to post pics soon.

Life is beginning to get back to a steady routine. We are spending a lot of time indoors as it is REALLY cold here. I'm not used to weather below 40, but it seems we are having a lot of those days and nights. Hope everyone else is staying warm.

The hardest week

This has been the hardest week of my life. In some respects it feels like eternity since last Friday when my daddy died. On the other hand it feels like ages ago since we spent time together. My daddy was my world and especially here lately as we have spent so much time over there. We have been to my moms every day this week to hand out with her and stuff. Each day I am fine as I am over there, but then the night comes and I am at my own house. That is when it is so hard. Please continue to pray for us.

On another note I have a couple of other prayer requests. My dear friend Heather is at the hospital with her baby as he now has RSV. It is really been bad on him. Another dear friend, Shine, is in Alabama with her dad in the hospital. He is battling cancer and she is there to help her mom. These two ladies helped Jim so much while I was just out of the picture. Without there friendship I don't know what Jim would have done. Please keep them in your prayers.

Short Post

Just wanted to write a short post for those who read my blog. As many of you know my dad has been sick for a couple of months. Well, he finally met Jesus last night, January 9. Thank you for all the prayers. I ask for your continued prayers as Blake is having a hard time with this.
